Pilgrimage v. Hike

The Camino is a walking pilgrimage. For me, it is not a hike, though 790 kilometers definitely qualifies it as one. But the intention is very different. For me, walking the Camino is not about mastering the wilderness, or being a wilderness for that matter. I'm not walking to build my ego or gain a sense of accomplishment, but rather to be present in the moment and feel the connection to the millions of souls who have walked the Camino Santiago over the centuries. I expect it will be hard and humbling. Also joyous and beautiful.
The philosophy teacher in me wanted this post to be so much longer. ("Define your terms! What's a hike? What's a pilgrimage?")
But, in truth I am grateful that you are sharing this experience with us. Thanks for taking us along for the ride...I mean walk...I mean.....
